A Personal Story…. and the Biggest Thing That Stands in Way of Connection

Post Date: December 5th, 2014

I haven’t shared this with many people.

There was a time in my life where I did not speak with a family member for almost 5 years. We avoided communication and even had a hard time being in the same room with each other. It put a lot of strain on the whole family, especially at the holidays.

Over the last 3 years I’ve been working personally to bridge the gap that started the rift in the first place. It has not been easy but it’s important to me. Even more so since Dad died last year.

What I mean by working personally is this. I’m not trying to change the other person. I have been looking more deeply within myself and working on the things that have kept me from feeling openly connected.

I’m sharing this because I know I’m not the only one. Many people face the following issues:

  • Wanting to have open, honest communication that connects you more deeply with those you care most about

  • Fear of expressing who you really are from the heart without fear of judgement, criticism or disagreement

  • Craving a deeper connection with their loved ones, but after years of “being a certain way” they simply weren’t sure how to make it different.

If you’re someone who wants to explore ways to resolve these then you’ll want to join me for a very special recording close to my heart.I  will address the issues above and more.

What Does Family Mean to You?

Post Date: December 2nd, 2014

"God is the designer of family." ~Gordon B. Hinckley

What is family?

When many of your loved ones have passed away, or you feel disconnected from your blood relatives, who is your family?

When I think of family, I think of people like my parents and siblings, and I also think of my love, Donnie, my pets, my dear friends, even those special souls who I don’t talk to in ages but can pick up the phone at any time and instantly re-connect.

Family to me means connection. And it's Connection that makes life so beautiful and worthwhile.

When those on their deathbeds are asked what they most regret, so often its that they didn’t spend enough time with those they loved.

And it’s not just TIME that makes the connection, its QUALITY time that you carefully cultivate together by overcoming your differences, and fully sharing yourself in love and understanding. Trust me, I get it. It sounds beautiful but sometimes that is easier said than done.

Connection doesn't just happen, it requires conscious communication and effort to create connected families filled with appreciation, understanding and expressions of love.

I want to support you this holiday season in making this happen for you and your family. I’ve created a special tele-seminar based on your input about what you are want with your family this holiday.

You'll discover my 5 most important steps to creating deeper intimacy, love and respect with these essential exercises.

9 Ways Gratitude Influences Your Life

Post Date: November 11th, 2014

"Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings."

~William Arthur Ward

I first want to take a moment and express my gratitude on this Veteran’s day to all of those past and present who have served our country. I am deeply grateful for the freedoms that their sacrifice and service has provided to myself and countless others.

Having a Gratitude Practice and Gratitude Journal is essential for me. And today and this Thanksgiving is a time for me to celebrate in a BIG way all I have to be grateful for.

Here are 9 Reasons Practicing Gratitude can influence your life for the better

1)  It strengthens your relationships. You create a deeper connection with those you care about by letting them know why you are grateful for them.

2)  It builds relationships. People want to be around grateful and positive people. It is uplifting and draws positive energy into your life that opens you up to more success in the areas you want to improve upon.

3)  It improves your health. The body as a whole functions at a higher level and the immune response is greater when there is an attitude of gratitude.

4)  It reduces stress and in general makes you happier. Endorphins get released when you express gratitude, allowing your body to operate in a naturally “happy” state.

5)  It helps you realize what you DO have. If you only focus on what you don't have you will always feel cheated. By focusing on what you DO have and being grateful for those things, you will begin to feel filled and brimming with joy from all the beauty and abundance you realize is surrounding you.

6)  It opens up opportunity to receive more good things to you. By being grateful for the things you have in your life, you open up possibility to more of what you want

7)  It opens up your thinking to new solutions. When focusing on a problem it is often difficult to see a way through. By focusing on and being grateful for the things that ARE working in that situation, and asking how it could be better with gratitude, new ideas for solutions flow more easily.

8)  It puts situations in perspective. This helps you see the good things happening in your life and makes it more difficult to stay stuck in complaining mode.

9)  By simply noting one or more things to be grateful every day your life can begin to drastically change your life for the positive. Being grateful for the small things in life lead to being grateful for bigger things.

I keep a simple Notebook with me always that I write down throughout the day things I notice I am grateful for. Try it out and see what happens in your life.

Practicing Gratitude is a skill worth developing. And is broken down into these 3 steps:

·         Recognize what you are grateful for –Notice all the things around you!

·         Acknowledge it – Express it, say it, write it down

·         Appreciate it –Feel it!

Now, go have a GRATITUDEFULL day!

Yes. You Matter. Own Your Value. Be Grateful. It's all about You. And it's about being In Touch In Life.

Why It’s Essential to Love Your Body

Post Date: November 3rd, 2014

Since I've been invited to be a guest speaker at the Empowered Embodiment Revolution I've been contemplating some important questions including:

Why is it REALLY important to love your body?

What happens in your life when you don't feel comfortable in your own skin?

Think about it. Your body is your physical home. When you don't feel safe and welcomed in your own home, this affects every single aspect of your life – work, relationships, money…you name it. Your relationship with your body impacts the level of energy that you put into the things and people you love, and it has a HUGE effect on your outlook on life.

That's why I love doing the work that I do. I show people how to reconnect with a sense of "home" in their bodies to feel more alive, more joy, and more passion in their life. This allows them to be more creative, allow for more intimacy, and develop the relationships they desire.

I, along with many other other body experts will be sharing our "out of the box"  expertise to allow you to not only love your body fully, but to use your body as your most powerful resource for a more authentic, successful life.

I know you will find value in this summit, so I encourage you to sign up. (It's still not too late. Oh and did I mention it's FREE)?

To Register for this FREE Summit Click HERE. (Don’t wait, each interview is only available 48 hours after it’s air date!)

Don't forget that my interview airs TOMORROW on November 5th.  So be sure to check it out too!

You matter. You have value. Its all about loving your body. its all about being in touch in life.

Honest Conversations about Our Body Battles

Post Date: October 22nd, 2014

You may or may not know my story about how I used to have daily body battles. What does that mean?

I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror without critiquing something or thinking that I needed to “fix” this or “improve” that. I even found myself hiding my body in a myriad of ways because of the shame and judgment I held against myself for not being a certain way.

If someone had told me that I could completely and fully love my body for the way it was, I would not have believed them.

But coming from someone who has been there (yours truly) I can tell you that it really is possible to end the madness of constantly fighting with your body.

Can you imagine how powerful it would be to fully love and accept your body without it having to meet any “expectations?”

A few weeks ago, I was having a conversation with my friend Darlene Downing. She shared her own personal struggle with her body. This included years of beating herself up in the illusionary quest for perfection with her body. After many years of deep depression, even becoming close to suicide, she realized just how many men and women struggle with the very same issues.

As I listened to her tell her story, I realized how similar it was to mine. That's why it warmed my heart to hear that she made it her mission to share with others how to overcome their own body battles.

I was really excited when Darlene asked me to be a guest speaker for the Empowered Embodiment Revolution.

And I said Yes!

I'm excited because all of the speakers who are going to be there are going to get REAL. They will be openly shed light on their own experiences and share “out-of-the-box” strategies  and practical advice from their personal journeys.

I am sharing this FREE resource with you because I strongly believe that it is time to begin having these real, honest conversations about all of our body battles.

Please check it out HERE. The best part is, is that it is completely free (and the recordings will be available for 48 hours after each interview).

My interview with Darlene will be on November 5th.  I'm sharing how hidden stored anger disconnects us from our bodies, and how addressing this anger allows you to take your power back, access the wisdom of your body, and live a deeply enriching, authentic life. When you sign up, she will send you all the details to check it out as well. You can register for this FREE event HERE

I hope you will join me! And please pass this along to anyone who you know will benefit.

You matter. You have value. It's all about you being connected to your body. It's all about being In Touch in Life.

I’m Grateful For My Body

Post Date: October 22nd, 2014

Today I decide to be grateful for my body. This is a big step for me because there was a time when I hated my body. I could only look at it or think about it, all of it, with judgment or shame. Today is different.

I do a body scan… What feels the easiest? My hands. I am grateful for my hands. They allow me to feel the softness of my cat’s fur as I pet her. And as I gently lay my hands on her side I feel the reassurance of her breath that lets me know she is alive and well. My ears hear her gentle purr as she senses me. So I guess I am grateful for my ears too. My eyes soften as I see her coat of white, checkered from the nose to across her back and tail, with pastel peach and light grey.

She quietly opens her eyes, looks at me with complete trust, and love, then closes them gently. I’m grateful that I have my eyes to observe her in this quiet serene space. A space I am learning to be more at home in. And for this I give thanks.

What would it take for you to be at home in your body? To love it fully?

If you struggle with fully loving and accepting all parts of you- including your body, I invite you to join me for a really powerful, complimentary online series called “Empowered Embodiment Revolution.”

When the host, Darlene Downing asked me to be a speaker in this series, I felt really touched, because the message of the summit resonated with me so deeply.

I just loved the idea of powerful women leaders coming together to share their wisdom on how to live in harmony with your body so that it supports you in all that you desire.I really highly suggest checking it out HERE. I will be sending you a few more emails than usual to share with you some of my favorite things from the series, because I do believe it is really that important.

I hope you take the time to enjoy this unique, complimentary resource while it is still available: http://spiritsnmotion.com/empoweredteresa.

Teresa

PS

If you want to mark your calendar for my talk, I will be speaking onNovember 5th about how anger disconnects you from the wisdom of your body, and how to break your hidden cycles of anger.

It is a special conference happening in Eden, NC this weekend.  And I would like to invite you to it. It you cannot attend, please consider donating to the non-profit organization that is supporting the event, as it’s a cause that is very close to my heart.

http://speakingtruthinlove.org/lightupthedarkness.html

If you ever watch the news, then you know it’s no secret that abuse is a very real and prominent problem within our communities, organizations and even churches.

These incidents have gone on for years, unnoticed due to codes of silence, and lack of education on how to prevent and address signs of abuse.

This conference is designed to teach our community members, church leaders, and all interested parties how to protect those who depend on us, especially children, against abuse, and how to effectively help those who have been victimized.

Leading experts in the fields of law enforcement and child protective services will educate participants on:

·      How to prevent abuse in our families and organizations

·      How to respond to abuse allegations

·      How to help victims of abuse and their families in the healing process

The conference will also be hosting Dale and Faith Ingraham, special guest speakers from Speaking Truth in Love Ministries, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing abuse in the faith community, and showing God’s healing ways for abuse victims and their families. You can find more information about them at their website:www.speakingtruthinlove.org.

I’m asking for your support to make this worthwhile event a success. Even if you are unable to attend, please help to spread the word by sharing this information via email and social media with those you love. You never know whose life may be changed because of it.

Again, that link to learn more about the conference is:

Is Your “Music” Still Hidden Inside of You?

Post Date: July 29th, 2014

music" A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he be at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be." ~ Abraham Maslow

Are you happy with your life? Really?

Many times in life we do what is expected of us instead of listening to what calls us to deeper happiness. Here are some reasons why…

·         You are afraid of what others will think, they might disapprove

·         You have been told that you are not so great at it

·         You feel that you can't do what you love and make a decent living too

·         You believe you don't have the money

·         You believe you don't have the time

·         You are afraid that people will think you are crazy

·         You are afraid your might fail at what you want

These are all just beliefs and excuses; because when either the desire or the pain was big enough we have all done things in spite of any of these reasons!

SO what would it take to claim your own life?

Here are 5 Steps to get you moving in that direction

1- Listen to your Heart It reminds you of what's important to you. This is done by paying attention to your emotions. If the urge comes up to dismiss them, DON'T! Tune in to see what they are trying to tell you. Let your heart guide you back to joy.

2 – Listen to and Follow your Intuition, Your Gut!  – this is from your right Brain – it connects with your dream and prompts you to follow your heart. it will always lead you in the right direction.

3 – Let the Logical part of your brain – your Left Brain –  help you determine the steps you need to make your dream happen (do not let it talk you out of it)

4 – Be Passionate and Take Risks. Following your heart often means taking risks. When you connect in with your passion, (whatever it is), you will be inspired to take the steps necessary in spite of the risks

5 – Recognize that Failure is a Myth. When you fear failure you get stopped in your tracks. You take things personally. There is no such thing in life as failure. There are only results. For every action there is a result. If you do not get the result you want do a different action.

Action = Results. Different Actions = Different Results. By taking this attitude you will be less discouraged, develop curiosity and love yourself more.

SO Follow your heart. Listen to how you feel. Let your intuition lead the way. Play your own Brand of Music. Don't die with your music inside you.

Are you living YOUR life? "There is one life for each of us; our own." ~ Euripides

And one more thing…

Tap into more joy. What small joy can you bring into your life for no other reason than joy?

When you allow yourself to do things that create joy in your life

·         You feel vibrantly alive

·         Your body heals and stays well more easily

·         Your relationships flourish

You deserve it!

Yes. You Matter. Own Your Value. It's all about You. And it's about being In Touch In Life.
